Research Area

Our research interests mainly focus on three basic questions using fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe as our model organism: (1) The epigenetic mechanism of RNAi and heterochromatin formation regulated by heat-shock protein Hsp90; (2) How the fidelity of mitotic chromosome segregation is ensured by activation and silencing of spindle assembly checkpoint; (3) The molecular mechanisms coordinating nuclear division with cell division (cytokinesis). Taking advantage of the extensive technical amenability of the fission yeast, our group employs multi-disciplinary approaches, such as genetics, cell biology and molecular biology, to dissect the detailed mechanisms how the cell cycle is regulated.
