(Research areas):
Cilia are evolutionarily conserved, microtubule-based cellular organelles in eukaryotes. With the increasing number of genetic diseases associated with ciliary dysfunctions identified over years, it becomes essentially important to study the ciliogenic program to elucidate the mechanisms of these ciliopathies. Currently, we are using zebrafish as a model system to further investigate the molecular mechanisms in the regulations of ciliogenesis. Our studies aim to provide the further understandings about the clinical features of ciliary dysfunctions.
